Working for SCS is a complete contrast to me from my previous career of 34 years in Corporate Banking. A job which was so stressful, pressured, very long hours, with not much sense of worthwhile achievement at the end of the day!
I feel fulfilled, content and happy in my job now, the last seven years have flown by. Although still a very busy, demanding role, with plenty of challenges along the way, it’s also a very satisfying feeling knowing how much benefit people gain from our service, and how much the service users appreciate the help and support provided.
Admin is a vital and integral part of all this and it gives me a great sense of pride in my team. The service we deliver to both our clients and to our colleagues within SCS, I believe, is second to none.

My name is Janet and I work in the Administration Team at Sunderland Counselling Service.
I joined SCS two years ago and to date I still feel very privileged to work alongside such dedicated people.
I had not been involved in this type of work before so I had to seek help from the ever great staff, nothing is too much trouble for the people who work here, they go out of their way to guide you through the learning process.
Whilst my passion had been to work with people I never imagined it would be so rewarding, going home every day and feeling you have done a little to help somebody, even if it is just a short chat on the phone to a client to arrange appointments.
I think we all sometimes forget about other people who we do not associate with on a daily basis but working within a Counselling Service brings that home to me every day.
Sunderland Counselling Service do a remarkable job for people who need help in lots of different ways.
